Cush & Ally

We met later in life and quickly discovered we had something important in common: we both love quick, easy, tasty food.

What we didn’t love was answering the question “What’s for tea?” every bloody night.

Before we met, Ally was cooking for one, so batch cooking became the answer. Make enough for a night or two, freeze a few portions, and future Ally could get away with doing absolutely bugger-all after a long day at work.

The “CBA” days, as we like to call them.

Cush, meanwhile, was doing nights and had perfected the art of surviving on pizza and beer, while cooking proper meals for his daughter when she was with him at weekends.

Neither of us is interested in buying extravagant ingredients that we’ll use once and then discover six months later lurking at the back of the cupboard.

We use normal supermarket stuff, try different things, and keep the ones that work.

And we have very different tastes.

Ally likes straight-up flavour and plenty of veg.

Cush?

Well… pizza.

And apparently anything that requires a loo roll in the freezer. 😂

Somehow, despite that, we’ve managed to come up with a load of food that suits us both, although Cush does have an entire cupboard full of hot sauces to jazz his up when Ally isn’t looking.

Everything you’ll find here has been cooked, tried, tested and actually eaten by us, then made again because we liked it enough to put it into our regular rotation.

Because that’s what this is about.

Real people, cooking real food that’s real good. Normal ingredients. Nothing too complicated. Food you actually want to eat on a Tuesday night.

So…we did this!
