10-Minute Sizzler Steak Stir Fry with Fresh Egg Noodles

10 minute sizzler steak and green beans stir fry with fresh egg noodles in a garlic soy glaze

Ditch the takeaway line-up—this sizzling wok creation goes from chopping board to bowl faster than your delivery driver can find your street.

Steak and green beans is one of those combinations that just works. Add some fresh egg noodles, a sticky sesame, garlic and honey glaze and you’ve got a seriously tasty dinner on the table in about 10 minutes.

This came about because we wanted something quick without resorting to the usual “chuck some chicken in a pan and hope for the best” dinner. We used thinly sliced beef sizzler steaks, blistered the green beans until they picked up a bit of colour, then brought everything together in a sweet, salty, garlicky glaze.

The fresh egg noodles get a quick toss in soy and sesame oil before going into the wok, which means they pick up all those lovely little bits of flavour left behind by the beef. Add a few sesame seeds and some fresh chilli and you’ve got steak and green beans stir fry that tastes like you’ve put considerably more effort in than you actually have.

And that’s exactly what we like.

As with most of our cooking, when fresh garlic is called for we use Taj Frozen Garlic. It’s absolutely perfect for most dishes and because it’s frozen it doesn’t come with the bitter taste of the chopped garlic in jars.

Ingredients

For The Beef
  • 350 g Beef Sizzler Steak
  • 200 g Green Beans – trimmed
  • 2 cloves Garlic – minced
  • 1 tsp Fresh Ginger – minced
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tbsp Cooking Oil
  • 1 Red Chilli – sliced
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds
For The Noodles
  • 300 g Fresh Egg Noodles
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
Optional Extras
  • 200 g Purple Sprouting Broccoli – or use tenderstem

Method

Get It Ready
  1. Top and Tail the green beans so they're a nice uniform size. Slice the beef into strips approximately the width of your thumb.
  2. Combine the sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, ginger and honey and set aside.
  3. Toss the noodles with 1 tbsp of soy sauce and 1 tbsp sesame oil and set aside.
Blister The Beans
  1. Add the vegetable oil to a wok and get it screaming hot. Chuck in the green beans and let them sizzle until they start to blister and char. Stir a couple of times to make sure they all get a taste of the oil and heat at the bottom of the wok.
  2. Remove them from the pan and set aside for a moment.
Cook The Beef
  1. In the same wok, get the beef strips in and stir fry them for 2 minutes until nicely browned around the edges.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium and add the soy/garlic/ginger/honey/sesame oil mix you created at the start. Let it bubble for about 30 seconds.
Bring it together
  1. Chuck the green beans back in, toss everything through the glaze and cook for a further 1 minute. The glaze should be starting to reduce slightly.
  2. Remove everything from a pan and place into a large bowl to allow the beef to rest for a couple of minutes.
Flash fry the noodles
  1. Turn the heat back up to high and chuck your coated noodles into the wok.
  2. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly until they're heated through and picked up any residue left from cooking the beef.
Serve It Up
  1. Add a pile of noodles to each plate, then divide the beef and beans mixture between the plates, sitting it on top of the noodles.
  2. Sprinkle over the sesame seeds and sliced red chilli then serve immediately.
